I have dedicated the past eight years to Intermodal Expressive Arts (IEA), a therapeutic approach that integrates two or more art forms such as visual art, movement, music, voice, and drama. Practicing IEA has allowed me to understand art-based methods of harmonizing my mind and body and cultivating authentic self-expression, ultimately contributing to my mental and physical well-being. This practice has played an integral role in shaping my academic and professional pursuits, since it revealed to me that external mediums can cultivate a sense of well-being in different ways. It showed me that cognitive and emotional states can be shifted through sensory engagement, intention, and creative exploration. These principles now underpin my interest in digital therapeutics, immersive AI, and cognitive augmentation.
IEA became the foundation for my belief that technology, when designed humanely, can evoke similarly grounding, transformative experiences at scale. Throughout my time at Pomona College, I have taken both art and dance classes, such as Introduction to Sculpture, Language of the Body, and Mind in Motion, to complement my practices and vision.
